A commercial fishing vessel has been apprehended by the Regional Maritime Unit-9 for alleged illegal fishing activities during seaborne operations in Region 9 earlier this week.

Supt. Jacob G. Macabali, RMU-9 Chief, said that troopers of the 903rd Maritime Police Station based in Pagadian City intercepted the F/B Tsaddie off the seas of Tabina Municipality in Zamboanga del Sur.

A Global Positioning System (GPS) used by the troopers reportedly showed that the F/B Tsaddie was fishing less than 6.5 kilometers away from the coastline.

The F/B Tsaddie is now anchored at the Pagadian City wharf while a case for violation of RA 10654 awaits the violators.

Meanwhile, the 905th Maritime Police based in Isabela City intercepted three (3) motorized fishing boats below 30 tonnage for illegal fishing off the coast of Kumalarang, Isabela City.

The three boats, identified as the FB Nurshela, FB Merlin and the FB Brotherhood, were apprehended for having expired permits. (Allen Abastillas)
