Congressman Karlo Alexie B. Nograles is expecting more students at state universities and colleges (SUCs) with the implementation of a law providing free tuition fees to students of these institutions.

Republic Act No. 10931 or the ‘Universal Access to Quality Tertiary Education Act. mandates SUCs to offer free tuition and miscellaneous fees to students.

Because of this,  Nograles said that they are anticipating an influx of students to enroll in SUCs.

"We are probably anticipating if kung kaya ba ng facilities ng SUC's  maacommodate yung influx ng bagong students," Nograles said.

Nograles, the Chairman of the House Committee on Appropriations, said that they will study if additional facilities will be needed by these educational institutions in preparing for the 2019 budget.

Nograles also advised students to study well to secure their future and not waste the government’s resources in providing them with free education.

"Ang challenge namin sa kabataan ay ayusin nila ang pag-aaral nila kasi sayang yung pera ginagasto sa kanila ng gobyerno," Norgrales said. He said that the government is doing this to secure their future so that when they finish their studies, they can find better jobs to support their family, city, and province.(R.G. A A. Go)
