A 35-year-old man was arrested after he attempted to kill his wife in Km. 19, Barangay Lapaz last Saturday night.

The suspect was identified as Rommel Salazar, married, a construction  worker of Lapaz.

At around 8 p.m. last Saturday, Salazar allegedly poured gasoline inside their house and tried to shoot and stab his wife, acts which were  prevented by Roel Reyes Robinson, his wife’s uncle.

The would-be victims were thereafter assisted by Lapaz Barangay Kagawad Cresencio Aballe in reporting the incident to the police.

The complainants also turned over to the police the suspect’s .38 revolver loaded with four bullets and two spent shells inside the cylinder.

Salazar was later arrested by policemen backed-up by members of the Barangay Council of Lapaz.

Salazar was detained at the Ayala Police Station pending the filing of charges in court.  (Dan Toribio)
