Beng turns over P33-M worth of projects in Cabaluay, Boalan PDF Print E-mail

In keeping with her administration’s priority thrust on education and climate change resiliency, Mayor Beng Climaco motored to Barangay Cabaluay yesterday morning and turned over two modern school buildings with climate change adaptability features totaling P29,551,997.59, and a covered court worth P3,985,037.97 in Barangay Boalan.

First of her three turnovers scheduled for the day was the two-storey eight-classrrom building amounting to P14,782,000.29 at Cabaluay Elementary School.

Similar school building, the first of its kind in the city if not in the entire region, was also unveiled at Cabaluay National High School in the amount of P14, 769,997.30.

Both school buildings boast of structural cum-architectural designs that can withstand weather conditions resulting from climate change, having rain collector for comfort room usage, higher elevation to prevent flood water from entering the classrooms, wider hallways, PWD accessibility, and all rooms have breather ventilation space, among other features.

Delighted to receive these school buildings are the students, their parents and teachers of both schools headed by their principals, Ma. Socorro Linao and Mujim Abdurahim, of the elementary and high school, respectively, and the barangay officials.

Record from the City Engineer’s Office showed that 20 more of this kind of school buildings are currently under construction in different barangays, mostly almost completed and soon to be unveiled.

As of this date, the city government under Climaco’s administration has implemented a total of P64.197 million worth various infrastructure projects since 2014.

These projects include slope protection amounting to P11 million, rehabilitation of sports center- P3 million, farm-to-market road projects in different locations totaling P8 million, and other school facilities.

Joining the mayor in yesterday’s three turnover activities were City Councilors Teodyver Arquiza, Kim Elago, Jimmy Villaflores, Jihan Edding and Bong Atilano together with former councilor now Integrated Bus Terminal (IBT) Supervisor Eddie Saavedra and former councilor now City Housing Officer Jawo Jimez, Assistant City Engineer Rodrigo Rebollos and Architect Rodel Falcasantos.

From Cabaluay, Mayor Beng and the councilors conveyed to Barangay Boalan where they unveiled a new covered court worth P3,985,037.97.

Residents and barangay officials of Boalan headed by Chairwoman Angelica G. Inot expressed their thanks and gratitude to the mayor and other city officials for giving them such a covered court project with multi-purpose usage.

In her message, Inot assured Mayor Beng and the councilors of her and Boalan’s united support for the present administration.-(Vic Larato)
