Gov’t forces clash with bandit group in Siocon; 2 killed, 3 captured Print

Two members of a bandit group operating in the Tripple SB Area (Siocon, Sibuco, Sirawai and Balinguian) were killed and three others were captured during a fierce encounter with government forces in Barangay Malambuhangin, Siocon Zamboanga del Norte last Tuesday morning.

Reports reaching the Police Regional Office 9 disclosed that the clash occurred at Sitio Sapah Bayot, boundary of Sitio Sirawai and Siocon in Barangay Malambuhangin, Siocon at around 9:30 a.m.

Police Regional Information Officer Chief Insp. Helen Galvez disclosed that troops of the 905th Maneuver Company of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion 9, Army’s 42nd Infantry Battalion and Zamboanga del Norte Provincial Mobile Forces Company were conducting law enforcement operation in the said barangay when they chanced upon the armed group led by a certain Bating under the group of Commander Jamilon Tukalan.

A heavy firefight followed which lasted for 15 minutes leaving two fatalities on the enemy side and who were later identified as Usni Antao Lumingis alias Ato and Alih Antao Lumingis.

Both of the slain bandits have pending warrant of arrest for murder with case issued by RTC’s Branch 27 in Siocon, Zambaonga del Norte.

The government forces also captured Sammy Lumingis Tungkal, Hatta Yacob Angsa and Attang Sabudin after the encounter.

They yielded three .45 caliber pistols and a .22 caliber rifle.

All the three were detained at the police station while the two bodies of their comrades were taken to a funeral parlor for post mortem examinations. – Dan Toribio
