Three centenarians who are living here in Zamboanga City have already received their respective P100,000 coming from the national government through the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) yesterday morning.

Ivan Eric Salvador, DSWD-9 information officer, said that all three centenarians are female, two are still alive while one is already deceased, which will be given as posthumous to be received by her immediate family.

The centenarians are100 year old and above.

Two recipients came to City Hall and personally received their cash benefits from Mayor Maria Isabelle Climaco-Salazar, representatives of the City Social Welfare and Development Office and DSWD. While the other one beneficiary got her cash benefits from the DSWD through the Office of Senior Ctizens Affaris (OSCA) field office in Barangay Ayala.

The cash were given to them to include a letter of felicitation coming from no less than President Rodrigo Duterte.

The office is advising beneficiaries to spend the money wisely and use it for the needs of the centenarian.

This program of providing cash incentives to the centenarians are being done by the government to honor Filipinos who have reached the age of 100 whether residing in the Philippines or abroad.

This is also one way of showing importance to these centenarians. (R.G. A A. Go)
