The Commission on Election (Comelec) as early as now is urging the public to register as qualified voters as Comelec will be opening the voters registration starting July 2 to September 29, 2018.

During that period, those 18 years old who wanted to register will be the first to be accommodated, while those who want to transfer their registration, correction of entry on registration record, and reactivation of registration record shall also be served.

Those who wish to register must bring with them proof of identity such as identification cards and birth certificate. Those who also like to make corrections, they must also bring pertinent papers.

The office is open from 8 a.m, to 5 p.m. Monday to Saturday including holidays.

Satellite registration shall also be allowed with priority to big barangays but only upon prior arrangement.

The legal basis for reopening the registration is RA 8189 and Comelec Resolution 10392 dated June 19, 2018.

This is being done by the Commission in preparation for the May 2019 national and local elections. The last election was conducted last May 14 Barangay and SK election.

"Pumunta na kayo sa Comelec office to register," Comelec 9 regional director Atty. Wilfred Jay Balisado said. (R.G. A A. Go)
