A Zamboanga lawmaker has proposed the temporary re-opening of the completed portion of the Zamboanga City By-Pass road to ease traffic congestion to local motorists.

In an interview with E-media, First District Congressman Celso Lobregat proposed the re-opening of the road following a decision by the City Government of Zamboanga to close down the area to traffic.

"Si para comigo apavor yo abri con el by-pass road portion by portion para pwde lang ayuda na problema de trapico. But it was not me who ordered its closure, it is the local government porcausa cay manada daw desgrasya ya ocuri," Lobregat said.

Recall that the city government requested the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) to close down the by-pass road after a series of accidents in the area.

"El desgrasya hinde culpa del camino, sin embargo culpa del driver. Look what happened to that vehicular accident in Culianan section and the back up vehicle of the city mayor in Lumbangan-Lunzuran section, hinde kel culpa del camino, base on police reports culpa del driver, kabar ara manda kita serra el camino," Lobregat said.

Lobregat made the statement after a meeting with DPWH officials on the current status of the by-pass road.  (Dexter Yap)
