Regional Weightlifting Training Center to be completed next month PDF Print E-mail

The Regional Weightlifting Training Center located at the Joaquin F. Enriquez Memorial Stadium is now 80 percent completed and is  scheduled to be turned over by July this year.

Elbert Atilano, Philippine Weightlifting Association Vice President, said that the workers are now doing finishing touches on the area.

Atilano also said that the second Zamboanga Hermosa Weightlifting Championship is slated to be held at the said facility.

“Cerka ya akaba el di ustedes training center onde ustedes pwede man practice embuenamente," Atilano said.

This is the biggest training gym for weightlifting being constructed by FJ construction, a local contractor. The facility is a two storey building with a dormitory, kitchen, shower, and study room for the athletes and an area for competition.

Aside from these, complete weightlifting equipment will also be placed in the center.

The P22-million Zamboanga City Regional Weightlifting Training Center was funded by the national government though the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) though the initiative of Congressman Celso Lobregat.

There are 100 weightlifters from Zamboanga City who will benefit from the training center. (RGAAGo)
