72 firearms, explosives surrendered in Zambo Sibugay Print

KUTA SANG-AN, Labangan, Zamboanga del Sur  – Seventy two  loose firearms and explosives were surrendered by the Barangay Chairmen of Naga, Zamboanga Sibugay Province to the 102nd Infantry Brigade, Joint Task Force ZamPeLan on Thursday.

Hon Rino S Delos Reyes, Municipal Mayor of Naga, turned-over the loose firearms to Colonel Franciso Ariel A Felicidario, 102nd Brigade Commander in the Municipal Gymnasium, Brgy Poblacion.

Loose firearms and explosive include one  M14, one  M16, and five Garand rifles, forty-eight improvised homemade shotguns; four cal .45 pistol; two  cal .357 Revolver, four cal .38 revolver and four rifle grenades.

Major General Roseller G Murillo, 1ID Commander and concurrent Commander of JTF “ZamPeLan” lauded the collaborative efforts of the troops, police, and the local officials for the successful and diplomatic approach leading to the voluntary turn-over of firearms by the local folks of Naga municipality.

“The mass surrender and turn over of loose firearms will minimize violent incidents and atrocities in our area of responsibility”, said MGen Murillo.

“Peaceful municipality will also attract investors, which means more job and employment will be created that would lead into a progressive locality,” he added.(PR)
