Barangay chair, 9 others arrested in drug buy-busts Print

Ten persons, including a barangay chairman, were arrested in three separate drug buy-bust operations conducted by agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and policemen late this week.

At around 5:30 a.m. yesterday, PDEA agents with policemen and military troops conducted a buy-bust operation in barangay Bato, Lamitan that led to the arrest of Adzhar Ombok Macrohon, barangay chairman of the said place.

Lawmen confiscated from his possession 20 grams of shabu with an estimated market value of P100,000, a .45 caliber pistol with ammunition and a hand grenade.

The suspect was taken to the PDEA headquarters for investigation.

Meanwhile, five persons were also arrested in a drug bust operation conducted by PDEA, policemen and military intelligence troops in Purok 6, Recodo last Friday.

Authorities arrested Alhasid Yasin, Roilo Comdra, Pajeja Yasin, Manuel Gontinan, Jr. and Rhem John Delos Santos.

Confiscated during the operation were 8 sachets of suspected shabu weighing more or less 16 grams worth P108, 000, several drug paraphernalia and P500 marked money.

At around 2:30 p.m. on the same day, men of the Tetuan Police Station conducted a buy-bust operation in Siason Drive, barangay Talon-Talon.

Arrested were Rommel Siason y Fernandez,  Roderick Enriquez y Ramos,  Alvin Enriquez y Sims, and Mohammad Ali Arip y Ismael.

Lawmen confiscated from their possession 4 pieces of small- sized heat- sealed transparent plastic sachets containing suspected Shabu, P200 marked money and drug paraphernalia.  (Dan Toribio)
