The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) is conducting surveillance on at least ten barangay captains who are allegedly  involved in the illegal drug trade in Basilan Province.

This following the arrest of  Bato Barangay Captain Adzhar “Omboc” Macrohon during a drug sting operation last Saturday.

Based on records of the Philippine National Police there were already three barangay chairmen who were arrested for allegedly being involved in the illegal drug trade in Basilan.

Authorities are eyeing ten more village officials.

Macrohon was reportedly arrested following a complaint through hotline 888 about  the suspect’s alleged illegal drug-related activities in his barangay.

Macrohon is now facing illegal drug and firearms possession charges after high-powered firearms and explosives were found in his residence during his arrest.  (Richard Falcatan)
