Six (6) caretakers of a farm in Sirawai have been kidnapped by lawless elements last Thursday.

The kidnappers have reportedly contacted Sirawai officials and are demanding the amount of P400,000 for the victims’ release.

A report from the Sirawai Municipal Police Station said that the victims are caretakers of a farm house at Sitio Maason, Barangay San Nicolas owned by Engr. Valiente Tolo Felizarta, Sirawai municipal engineer.

Last Thursday morning, Janjan Vender, a construction worker, noticed that the caretakers of the farm together with their children, were missing.

They were identified as Feliciano and Elsa Javier and their five-month old baby Vincent; Junior and Rica Javier and their five-year-old son Val.

One of the abductors, who identified himself as a certain Abu, reportedly called up Sirawai Vice-Mayor Jaime Felizarta last Friday and informed the latter that the victims were in his custody.

The head of the kidnap syndicate was identified as a certain Jamilon Tukalan aka Jamilon Wahab.

The Crisis Management Committee (CMC) composed of Sirawai local officials and military and police, held a meeting last Saturday to discuss measures to rescue the victims.

During the meeting, the kidnappers called up the Vice-Mayor and demanded the amount of P400,000 for the release of the victims.

The committee however negotiated to pay less than the amount demanded by the abductors.

Meanwhile, the  committee also recommended to invite Wahab’s sister to help in the release of the victims.

The committee also recommended the conduct of law enforcement operations within the area while negotiations are ongoing for the victims’ release.  (Ely Dumaboc)
