4 Abus surrender in Zambo, Basilan PDF Print E-mail

Four members of the Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) have surrendered in Zamboanga City and Basilan Province over the weekend.

Police Senior Superintendent RufinoInot, Basilan PNP provincial director, identified the two Basilan surrenderers as 22-year-old Jamad Habil Habing and 20-year-old Jem Habil Habing.

Both persons, who are followers of Basilan-based Abu Sayyaf leader Furuji Indama, are residents of Sitio Bohe Pansul, Barangay Baguindan, Tipo-Tipo Municipality.

The two yielded firearms consisting of an M-16 rifle with an M203 grenade launcher and 4 rounds of M203 live ammunition and bandolier.

Meanwhile. two other Abu Sayyaf members surrendered to military authorities in Zamboanga City last Saturday.

A military report identified the two as 35-year-old Apdal Ahaddin y Jani aka Iddoh and 36-year-old Asbi Ahaddin y Jani aka Pogie.

The report said that the two voluntarily surrendered to troops of Joint intelligence Task Units and were received by Task Force Zamboanga commander Col. Leonel Nicolas and Col. Teofilo Bailon  Jr. of the Philippine Air Force.

The report said that intensified operations against the Abu Sayyaf prompted the bandits to turn themselves in to authorities.

The surrenderers brought with them an M16 rifle, a Garand rifle and a short magazine with eighteen (18) ammunition of 5.56mm.

The surrenderers have undergone custodial debriefing at the Edwin  Andrews  Airbase (EAAB) and were turned over to the Zamboanga City Police Office (ZCPO) .  (Richard Falcatan)
