The Bureau of Customs Zamboanga port has announced that it has surpassed its target collection for the month of June by at least P5-million.

Zamboanga District Collector Atty. Lyceo Martinez said that the Zamboanga port has collected the amount of P28,576,460 for the month of June, surpassing its target goal collection of P23-million by about P5.5-million.

Martinez said that this is the third month that the BOC has met and surpassed its monthly target.

The BOC-Zamboanga District Office has also auctioned 15,000 bags of imported rice that they seized from the M/V Diamond 8 last June 26, thus generating an income of about P21.1-million.

At least five (5) bidders coming from the cities of Davao, Cebu and Manila and  Zamboanga have participated in the bidding for the imported rice.

Martinez said that he has been receiving a positive response from traders, an indication of a positive growth in collection for the coming months.  (Ely Dumaboc)
