An operator of a fleet of taxicabs in the city is inviting the public to invest in the taxi business to complete the slots for more units.

"Tan invite kita quien quiere man invest na taxi welcome sila man member kay tali el sen na taxi," Jerson Monteverde, chairman of the Asias Latin City Transport Service Cooperative said.

Monteverde said that interested parties need only to invest P200,000 for the purchase of a unit.

The cooperative will then assist them in other requirements.

Monteverde said that the taxicab cooperative in the city still needs thirty-five (35) more units to fill in the slots given to them by the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB).

There are already twenty (20) who have expressed their interest to join the taxi business.

Currently, there are 15 taxies plying the city streets. According to Monteverde, drivers are earning P1,500 to P3,500 a day and they are paying a P1,200 boundary per day.

Fare for taxi is P40.00 flagdown with an additional P13.50 per kilometer or an additional P2.00 per minute. These taxies ply the route of region 9.

Monteverde said that they already brought passengers to as far as Pagadian and Dipolog.

Taxies are more comfortable, safe as these units are being monitored by global positioning system, and with receipts, said Monteverde.

For security, they are also strict when it comes to hiring drivers.

Drivers  must pass the LTFRB's drivers academy and must submit clearances from the NBI, police, and the barangay. (R.G. A A. Go)
