Police are investigating a political angle in the recent murder of Sapa Sapa Municipality Vice Mayor Hadji Alrasid Mohammad Alih.

This was revealed by police sources after establishing that the Vice-Mayor’s name is not included in the list of narco politicians and has not been connected to the illegal drug trade.

The police also ruled out retaliation as a possible motive in the crime.

Police are currently asking for closed circuit television footages in the area to help them in their investigation.

Zamboanga police are also coordinating with their counterparts in Tawi Tawi province.

Sr. Supt. Allan Nazarro, Zamboanga City Police Director, said that there is a big possibility that the Vice-Mayor’s assassin is not from Zamboanga city.

This after police put pressure on gun-for-hire groups in the city to prevent them from operating.

Alih’s murder is the seventh shooting incident in Zamboanga city in a span of less than a week.  (Remus Ong)
