Regional Maritime Unit-9 intercepts three fishing boats for illegal fishing Print

Three motorized fishing boats were intercepted by the Regional Maritime Unit-9 in a two separate seaborne operations early this week.

According to Supt. Jacob G. Macabali, Chief Regional Maritime Unit-9, the 903rd Maritime Police Station  based in Pagadian City apprehended a motorized pump boat with boat marked Jaifhar, operated by Sala Ibrahim, for illegal fishing on Wednesday at 9:00 in the morning in the seawater of Pagadian City.

The fishing boat was operating even without permit and registration. Hence, fishing boat was brought to Pagadian City Port where it is now temporarily anchored pending further investigation. While its operator, Ibrahim was turn-over to City Agriculture Fisheries Division.

In similar seaborne opertions, Macabali disclosd that troopers of 901st Maritime Police Station based at Zamboanga City Wharf also intercepted two fishing boats identified as  MF/B Nholrose and MF/B Baby Khaira for illegal fishing in the Western side seawater of  Zamboanga City Channel.

During inspection, the two Skippers or boat captains of the fishing boats identified as Michael Oncodia of MF Nholrose and Roste Gampal failed to present any fishing permits or registrations.

The two fishing boats are now temporarily anchored at Paniran Area and the two Skippers were brought to the City Agriculture Office for further investigation. Allen Abastillas
