The Zamboanga City State Polytechnic College (ZCSPC) has inaugurated its P21- million full mission bridge simulator last Friday at the ZCSPC campus.

Dr. Nelson Cabral, president of ZCSPC, said that the equipment is used by Maritime Transport students to learn how to maneuver big vessels at sea.

The bridge simulator is imported from Kansas and is the first in Mindanao.

The full mission bridge simulator has a 270- degree visualization, a radar, a global positioning system and other state-of-the-art features.

Other schools have the full mission bridge simulator but do not have the 270 degree visualization.

"This will help as we are focusing on global competitiveness of students," Cabral said.

This is also in compliance with the mandate of the school as a maritime institution.

Meanwhile, Second Officer Nonito Tablante, BS Marine Transportation (BSMT) instructor said that the equipment is similar to a real sea vessel.

The simulator is also equipped to allow students to experience various conditions at sea including bad weather and the like.

BSMT will start during the second semester.  The school is expecting the enrollment of more or less 100 students.

"Magkakaroon sila ng malaking knowledge. Hindi sila mahihirapan because this is almost actual," Tablante said. (RGAAGo)
