Mayor bares shortlist for City Police Chief PDF Print E-mail

Mayor Beng Climaco has received from the national police headquarters its commended candidates for the city’s police director post.

In a communication addressed to the city mayor, the Philippine National Police headquarters has put forward the names of five third-level commissioned officers as recommendees for the position of Zamboanga City Police Office (ZCPO) director.

These are PSSupt. Alan Molintas Nazarro, who currently serves as Officer-in-Charge of the ZCPO, PSSupt. Renato Sanao Alba, PSSupt. Pedro Daupan Soliba, PSSupt. Benigno Leonud Guzman, and PSSupt. Noel Bayaca Vallo.

The City Director post has been left vacant following the transfer of former police director PSSupt. Neri Ignacio to the CALABARZON region last April.

The communication further requested Mayor Climaco to select from among the recommended officials for designation to the director post.

“We are set to make a choice,” Climaco said adding that she has spoken to ZCPO OIC Nazarro and acknowledged his contributions to the security of the city.

Mayor Climaco assured the public that the local government is working closely with the city police to address the issues of security, particularly the incidents of shooting.

Out of the eight shooting incidents, two suspects have been apprehended, according to a report submitted by the ZCPO to Mayor Climaco.

The rest have ongoing investigations.

In addition to the security recommendations made by the city police, Mayor Climaco also directed the city’s police force ensure the security of key and vital installations in the city. (Jasmine Mohammadsali/PR)
