A policeman was arrested for malversation of Public Property after allegedly buying government-issued bullets from an Air Force personnel.

The suspect was identified as PO1 Kim Ahil Anni, assigned at the Ayala Police Station and a resident of Toribio Drive in Pasonanca.

Anni was arrested by Sta. Maria Police Station personnel at 9:15 a.m.

Anni has a standing warrant of arrest for malversation of public funds or property penalized under Article 217 of the Revised Penal Code.

Chief Insp. Arlan Delumpines, Sta Maria Police Station chief, said that Anni was charged as an accessory to the crime after buying 5.56 caliber bullets from his friend, an Air Force personnel, in 2009.

The two were reportedly confronted by the Philippine Air Force supply officer at the police station for committing the offense.

A case for malversation was filed against Anni’s friend while the policeman was charged as an accessory.

After his arrest, Anni was able to post bail but failed to attend the hearings despite a standing invitation from the court.

The court thus issued another warrant of arrest to compel the subject to attend the trial. (Dan Toribio)
