A suspected kidnapper and bomb expert of the Abu Sayyaf group was arrested during law enforcement operations in Barangay Tumitus last Friday afternoon.

Chief Insp. Helen Galvez, Police Regional Office-9 Information Officer, identified the suspect as Hadji Faizal Radjae, 54 years old, and a resident of Sitio Logpond, Barangay Libertad, Tungawan, Zamboanga Sibugay.

Radjae was arrested during law enforcement operations in Barangay Tumitus, Zamboanga City at 3:30 p.m. last Friday.

Radjae was arrested by virtue of a warrant of arrest for the crime of Kidnapping and Serious Illegal Detention issued by the Regional Trial Court, Branch 4 in Parang, Sulu.

The suspect is believed to be a sub-leader of the Abu Sayyaf group who was involved in the abduction of foreigners at the Sipadan Island Resort in Borneo, Malaysia on August 23, 2000.

He is also believed to be one of the suspects in the series of bombing incidents in the Zamboanga Peninsula area.

The suspect was temporarily detained at the Police Station 11 detention center for disposition.  (L. Jocson)
