The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) has warned  about taking drastic action against groups selling illegal petroleum products here in the city.

“I appeal to those who are involved in the selling of illegal petroleum products to stop this kind of activity before we take drastic action,” warned Zamboanga City District Fire Marshall F/Supt. Jhufel Brañanola.

Brañanola is referring to parties selling petroleum products usually placed in one liter soda bottles.

The act is in violation of the Fire Code of the Philippines which imposes a P12,500 fine for first time violators.

Brañanola also asked for the help of police to help in the implementation of the Fire Code.

He said that a joint operation is set to be implemented to stop the illegal sale of petroleum.

Brañanola made the statement after a big conflagration in Barangay Labuan which razed up to 400 houses last Sunday.  (RGAAGo)
