Government operatives led by the local police under Sr. Supt. Edwin De Ocampo yesterday arrested five persons, including a woman, during a raid at a residence in Sta. Catalina, where fake documents were being manufactured.

Arrested were Julie Edris, Mohammad Nur Karay, Almunib Ahijun, Gerald Pinhani and Chiong Alil.
Policemen backed-up by other government personnel raided the Edris residence on the strength of a search warrant issued by the court.
The police had asked the court for a search warrant after gathering information that fake public documents like MNLF application papers and others were being manufactured at the Edris residence.

The raiders recovered several documents , a computer set and printing materials.
In an interview, Edris said she and her husband Mohammad Edris own the house but said that a certain Joel was responsible  for the manufacturing of the fake documents.

Edris said that Joel had just left the house few minutes before the raiding team arrived.

Edris said the computer set was pawned to them at P2,000 by an unidentified person several months ago.

She denied that her family was the one manufacturing the fake documents. She pointed to Joel as the person behind the illegal activity.
The four men said they have no knowledge in the manufacturing of the fake documents.    They said ity was only coincidence that they were at Edris’ house when the raid took place.

Edris’ husband and Joel were nowhere to be found during the raid.

De Ocampo said that they were still digging deeper into the case. — Dan Toribio Jr.
