A reshuffle of Congressional Committee chairmanships is reportedly impending in line with the controversial change in leadership of the House of Representatives last Monday.

The change in leadership was boldly undertaken hours before President Rodrigo Duterte’s State of the Nation Address (SONA) thus resulting to a delay in the much- awaited speech of the President.

In an interview with RMN Network, District 1 Representative CelsoLobregat said that everything is fluid in Congress and they are still awaiting for further developments in the days to come.

Lobregat said that congressmen are awaiting a possible reorganization of committee chairmanships, a reshuffle of which can be implemented by the new House Speaker.

“Anything can happen anytime.  It might affect our existing committee chairmanship.  I hope not,”  Lobregat said.

Lobregat, a supporter of ex-House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez,  is the current chairman of the Congressional Committee on Public Works and Highways, a position which enables the solon to identify and push for the implementation of projects for the city.

On the other hand, District 2 Congressman Mannix Dalipe said that the new leadership will trigger favorable results for Zamboanga.

“In congress, it is a game of numbers.  I will become an outcast if I do not go with the majority,”  Dalipe said.  (BhongSimbajon/ RMN News)
