Titay leaders turn over 51 firearms, 1 hand grenade PDF Print E-mail

Local leaders in Titay Municipality turned over fifty-one (51) assorted firearms and a hand grenade during a mass surrender of loose firearms at the Titay Municipal Hall Building in Titay, Zamboanga Sibugay last Monday.

The firearms were surrendered by twenty-two (22) barangay chairmen of the municipality.

The fifty-one firearms consist of thirty-seven (37) units of 12 gauge improvised long shotgun; eight (8) units of cal.38 revolver; two (2) units of .22 cal revolver, a 5.56 pistol, three (3) units of homemade shot guns and a hand grenade.

The firearms were later subjected to an inventory and surrendered to the Provincial Logistics Branch.

The mass surrender of firearms was initiated by Titay Municipal Station Officer-in-Charge PCI Ricardo Tabanas Pacaña.  The ceremony was attended by local government officials and high-ranking military and police officers in the province.

During the ceremony, participants were informed of the laws in possessing firearms.  Authorities also urged the public to surrender unregistered firearms to the police or the military.  (Ely Dumaboc)
