The Zamboanga City Police Office (ZCPO)  is contributing at least P5-million to the city government’s coffers through the apprehension of traffic violators in the city.

City Police Office Director Sr. Supt. Alan Nazarro said, “Ang pinakamababa  na-issue ng police traffic officers ko ay P300.”

Nazarro is referring to fines and penalties collected from drivers who have violated traffic laws and ordinances in the city from January to June this year.

Drivers normally violate the No Helmet Law and at present, the regulation against driving wearing sleeveless shirts (sando) and slippers.

“Ang mga traffic violators nana-issuehanng citation ay nagbabayad dyan sa City Hall,” Nazarro said.

Nazarro described the apprehension of erring drivers as a non-stop operation implemented by police in city streets.

Currently, authorities are also implementing the law on anti-jaywalking.

Nazarro warned residents of the city and visitors from the island provinces to obey traffic laws in Zamboanga City to avoid being apprehended by police.  (Allen Abastillas)
