60-year-old farmer hacked, killed Print

A 60-year-old farmer met a gruesome death when he was hacked inside the residence of his alleged murderer at Barangay Salagmanok, Kumalarang Municipality, Zamboanga del Sur last Thursday.

Chief Insp. Helen Galvez, Police Regional Office-9 Information Officer, identified the victim as 62-year-old Odie Maligaya y Udac, a resident of Barangay Tininghalang, Lapuyan Municipality, Zamboanga del Sur.

The suspect was identified as Olimpio Malimbol y Maligaya, 60-years-old, a farmer and resident of Purok Uno, Barangay Salagmanok, Kumalarang Municipality.

Based on initial investigation, Maligaya was sleeping inside Malimbol’s house when the latter hacked the victim in his head and face with a scythe.

Further investigation disclosed that Malimbol suspected Maligaya  of stealing his coconuts.

The victim’s cadaver was subjected to post mortem examination while the suspect was detained at the Kumalarang Municipal Police Station.  (Ely Dumaboc)
