Congressman Celso Lobregat personally invited National Electrification Administration (NEA) Administrator Edgardo Masongsong for the conduct of a proposed energy summit here in Zamboanga City.

This is the offshoot of the meeting yesterday between Congressman Lobregat, Administrator Masongsong, Zamboanga City Electric Cooperative (ZAMCELCO) Board of Directors and some Independent Power Producers (IPP) which  have issued demand letter to the local electric cooperative due to their standing debts in power distribution.

Lobregat said that the proposed event needs to be conducted as soon as possible in order to be able to address squarely and go head on in the present status of ZAMCELCO which has a lot of financial, administrative and operation issues that needs to be resolved before everything will be too late.

“We have to act with a sense of urgency about this power problem we have, so I have personally invited Administrator Masongsong to come to Zamboanga City and relate to the stakeholders the tangible and timely solution to our power woes which is hurting the business sector and the community as well,” Lobregat said.

The solon revealed that the issues about the proposed NEA takeover of the cooperative, the standing debts of ZAMCELCO, the systems loss issue, the status of their loans  to include the pending Investment Management Contract (IMC) will be discussed during the forum. (Dexter Yap)
