3,000 solo parents in Zambo Print

The City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) has registered a total of 3,000 solo parents in Zamboanga City.

Ma. Socoro Rojas, CSWDO Officer said that these solo parents are either mothers, fathers or grandparents who have a minor in their custody or left in their care.

Rojas said that these persons can avail of a parent identification card to avail of benefits the government is offering to solo parents.

For those who want to avail of the solo parent identification card, they need to go to the field office of the CSWDO and be assessed by a social worker.

There are conditions so one can be considered as a solo parent.

The husband or wife must  either be abandoned for a long time or one is in jail.

The benefits to being a solo parent are the following:  Additional leave, educational assistance, livelihood assistance, and ease in applying for a passport.  . (RGAAGo)
