It will be the local party of the Laban ng Demokratikong Pilipino (LDP) which will nominate among its local party members the replacement of Councilor Myra Paz Valderrosa-Abubakar after the latter’s recent appointment as Tourism regional director.

First District Congressman Celso Lobregat, LDP former city chairman and team leader of the local coalition of the PDP, LDP and Nacionalista party made the revelation.

Lobregat said that he has already conferred with local LDP chairman Hon. Mike Alavar to implement the process of choosing Abubakar’s successor.

The last time that LDP nominated a replacement to take the place of an outgoing councilor was when then San Roque Barangay Chairman Joselito Macrohon took the place of Councilor Charlie Mariano.

The two officials had to follow the process of party nomination following the guidelines of the Commission on Election  (Comelec) and the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG).

"We need to follow the same process like the assumption of our partymate Councilor Macrohon, and I already talked to LDP National Chairman Senator Sonny Angara about this last week and he agreed to nominate one of our chosen members to assume Councilor Abubakar's position," Lobregat said.

The solon said that according to law on political assumption, it will be the LDP who will nominate their chosen member to assume such position of vacancy and after that, the national party concerned will concur and recommend it to President Rodrigo Duterte for his official appointment.

Over the weekend, Congressman Lobregat met with the local party coalition here in order to discuss the appointment and assumption of Councilor Abubakar who was designated by President Duterte as the new Regional Director of the Depart of Tourism (DOT) Regional Office 9.

Lobregat said that he is not privy yet to announce what was agreed in that meeting, but one thing sure is that the local LDP party already had their concensus whom to recommend as the replacement of Councilor Abubakar to occupy her vacant seat in the Sangguniang Panlungaod.

"The party already came up with a consensus on who will assume the vacancy. It’s a good choice, but we still have to submit all the paperworks and recommendation to the national LDP party and until the president signs that appointment,we will announce it then," Lobregat said.

The solon hinted that this " somebody" in mind who was recommended by the LDP party to the position is a workaholic and a dedicated person in public service. He has a very outstanding performance record during his stint in the City Council before he ended his three consecutive terms. He is one of the known stalwarts of the local LDP party, Lobregat said.
