Authorities in Basilan have established the last owner of the Hyundai van which was used as the car bomb that killed 11 people in Colonia, Lamitan City last July 31.

Based on reports reaching DXRZ-RMN Zamboanga, the Hyundai van was first bought in Region 12 and was sold to two people, including a policeman.

It was finally sold to a resident of Mohammad Ajul Municipality, the last owner to have owned the vehicle prior to the incident.

Lawmen are already trying to reach the vehicle owners to get information on how the van was used as the deadly car bomb.

Police refused to release the names of the owners pending investigation.

Recall that eleven persons, including the alleged suspect, were killed while seven were wounded when a suspected suicide bomber triggered a powerful car bomb near an Army detachment along the Magwakit intersection of Barangays Bulanting and Colonia, Lamitan City  last July 31.

The bomb was reportedly intended for a parade culminating Nutrition Month in Lamitan City where hundreds are expected to attend.

The Armed Forces later discounted speculations that the incident was a suicide attack.  (Dan Toribio)
