A businesswoman engaged in money lending was killed and robbed inside her residence in Zamcelco Urban Phase 1, Purok 8D, Barangay Recodo last Sunday morning.

Police, however, are baffled why the suspects left nearly P1-million in cash which was kept inside a vault in the house.

Police identified the slain businesswoman as Cecile Borja Jamaldin, 55, married, a Recodo resident.

The victim’s cadaver was discovered by her relatives inside her bedroom lying in a prone position.

Police said that the victim’s neck was tied with an electrical wire and her face bore injuries.

Police added that blood stains were also found in the kitchen.

The victim’s hand bag containing an undetermined amount of cash was missing.

Cash amounting to P930,000 kept inside the vault was left intact.

Police added that victim was also working as a checker in a canning firm in the city’s west coast.

Police have launched an investigation that would lead to the arrest of the suspects. (Dan Toribio)
