NEA administrator spearheads energy summit today in Zambo PDF Print E-mail

National Electrification Administration (NEA) administrator Edgardo Masongsong is arriving here in the city today for the conduct of an Energy Summit which was initiated by Congressman Celso Lobregat and the officials of Zamboanga City Electric Cooperative (Zamcelco) to be held at 9 a.m. at the ZAMCELCO auditorium.

This energy summit initiated by Lobregat, together with ZAMCELCO, and NEA wants to address the various and pressing problems besetting the ailing power cooperative.

“I am inviting all stakeholders of Zamboanga City as well as those individuals and officials who have vital concerns and questions to ZAMCELCO and NEA to attend this very important forum in order for the concerned officials to be able to explain properly the present status of the electric cooperative and their actions they are doing in order to come up with tangible and timely solution to our power woes which is hurting the business sector and the community as well. The people deserves an explanation,” Lobregat stressed.

Lobregat said that the issues about the proposed NEA take-over of the cooperative, the standing debts of ZAMCELCO, the systems loss issue, the status of their loans and to include the pending Investment Management Contract (IMC) will be thoroughly discussed during the  forum.

It can be recalled that Congressman Lobregat last week, went to NEA head office and conferred with Administrator Masongsong in order to ask for his help particularly in providing the necessary technical and administrative assistance to ZAMCELCO, which is in its present status is financially struggling.

Lobregat also communicated with NEA Administrator Masongsong to facilitate a win-win solution to manage and operate ZAMCELCO for it to be able to sustain its services to the member-consumers of Zamboanga City. – Dexter Yap
