The Zamboanga City Police Office SWAT team emerged as the champion in the City Police Station category during a competition among SWAT units in region 9.

Police Regional Office-9 Regional Director Chief Supt Billy Beltran led in the awarding ceremony held at the Regional Mobile Force Battalion 9 (RMFB9) Firing Range last August 10.

The Zamboanga City Police Office SWAT team is followed by the Dipolog City Police Office as 1st runner up and the Pagadian City Police Office as 2nd runner-up.

Meanwhile, the SWAT team of Zamboanga del Norte Provincial Mobile Force Company (ZDNPMFC) topped the Public Safety Forces category of the competition.  This was followed by the RMFB9 and Zamboanga Sibugay Provincial Mobile Force Company as 1st and 2nd runners-up respectively.

For the PNP/BJMP Category (guest participants) the 5th Special Action Battalion of the PNP SAF dominated the competition.  They also bagged the Best in Pistol Match and was adjudged as overall champion.

The Bureau of Jail Management and Penology 9 (BJMP9) and the Aviation Security Group 9 came in as 1st and 2nd runners up respectively.

The Zamboanga City Police Office SWAT Team led by Police Inspector Ahmed Czar A. Astapan was also awarded as the Best in Rifle Match and will represent the Police Regional Office-9 in the 2nd National SWAT Challenge to be held in September this year.

Chief Supt. Beltran, who led the opening of the 1st stage of competition in Dipolog City and the culmination in Zamboanga City, said that the competition is in line with the PNP’s Master Training Action plan for the year 2018, which aims to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency as well as the tactical proficiency of every SWAT unit in PRO-9.  (PRO-9 PR)
