2 tanods nabbed in Taluksangay raid Print

Two barangay tanods of Taluksangay suspected of illegal possession of firearms were arrested during a police and military raid in Purok 6, Taluksangay yesterday dawn.

Nabbed were Sagumbahar Sagumayan Akbar, 34, married and Samandi Tutuh Imbas, 55, married.  Both were identified by police as barangay tanods of Taluksangay.

Police and military confiscated from the house of Akbar an M4 Carbine rifle, a .45 caliber pistol, and 9mm pistol with ammunition and a rifle grenade.

Meanwhile, the same team recovered from the house of Imbas two litter bottles containing ammonium nitrate fuel oil (anfo), time fuse and a .45 caliber pistol.

The raid was conducted by men of the 904th Mobile Company, Regional Mobile Force Battalion 9, Special Investigation Unit, Zamboanga City Police Office, TSC, Explosive and Ordnance Division, Intelligence Unit and the Philippine Army’s 545 Company, on the strength of a search warrant for violation of Republic Act 10591 issued by the Regional Trial Court.

The suspects were taken to the Culianan Police Station for filing of charges in court.  (Dan Toribio)
