An Abu Sayyaf bomb expert was slain during joint law enforcement operations at Kalimayahan Village, Latih, Patikul, Sulu last Wednesday morning.

The slain ASG leader was identified as Abdul Ajim Abdulgani aka Suraka Ingog, a bomb expert, who is reportedly a member in the group headed by the late Muamar Askali.

Later that day, two soldiers were wounded when troops of the Army 41st Infantry Battalion encountered an undetermined number of Abu Sayyaf bandits in Barangay Tigian, Buhanginan, Sulu.

The bandits scampered off to different directions when the firefight started.

Personnel of the Army’s 45th and 32nd Infantry Battalions were deployed to establish blockade while the two injured soldiers were evacuated to a military hospital in Sulu and later to the Western Mindanao Command hospital for treatment. (Remus Ong)
