The Zamboanga City Jail-Male Dormitory  has maintained the title “drug free jail” after another surprise inspection dubbed as  “Oplan Linis Piitan” conducted inside the facility.

The inspection was made early morning last Sunday among Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDL).

The inspection or the greyhound was conducted by combined personnel of the Philippine National Police Station 11, K-9 Narco Units of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and the Philippine Coast Guard.

During the greyhound, lawmen recovered some personal belongings of the PDLs which are prohibited inside the jail like the uncut handle of toothbrush, nail cutter, and ball pens.

No drugs and drug paraphernalia were found.

The recovered personal items were immediately destroyed as part of the BJMP's campaign "OPLAN Linis Piitan.”

The inspection was in line with the government's war on drugs and to ensure a favourable environment for the well-being of detainees as well as safety of jail officers.

This is to determine whether presence of illegal drugs and its paraphernalia and other contraband are present, said Jail Chief Insp. Nathanel Aljas.

Aljas was confident that with the continuous greyhound operation, the inmates and visitors will no longer think of doing illegal acts but  support the programs and activities of the agency which are beneficial for the development of Persons Deprived of Liberty.  (Dan Toribio)
