The Philippine Health Insurance (PhilHealth) regional office 9 is urging hospitals in the region to be accredited so they can offer Z Benefits for children with hearing impairment.

Bryan Jabay, PhilHealth Information Officer, said that the program is already here however, no facility has applied yet for the accreditation so they can offer the Z Benefits for children with hearing impairment.

“I would encourage hospitals, if you are qualified and you want to be accredited to implement the Z benefit ta dale kita conel maga bata anda aqui canamon,” Jabay said.

Some of the requirements needed for the facility to be accredited are: facilities, equipment, and the doctor specialist who will check the condition of the children.

The new package is under PhilHealth Circular No. 2018-0011 published June 14, 2018 and is now effective.

To avail of the package, children must be zero to 17 years old and assessed by a specialist. This is done for timely recognition of hearing loss for children as this will affect their communication ability.

Covered in the package are diagnostics, provision of hearing aids, hearing air fitting, battery and ear mold, and speech therapy.

Patients are advised to check the benefits provided at the Philhealth office.

This package is available in other big cities such as Cebu, Davao, and Manila till such time a hospital in region 9 will be accredited. (R.G. A A. Go)
