A total of seventy four inmates of the Zamboanga City Jail will benefit from Zamboanga City Medical Center's (ZCMC) free surgical mission this August.

Dr. Joji Sese, Chairman ZCMC Department of Surgery, said that 44 will undergo major operation while 30 will have minor surgery.

Inmates have already started to undergo major operation in batches.

Most have undergone surgeries for hernia and hemorrhoids.

Of the 44 inmates slated to undergo operation, medical personnel have already performed surgery on 20 patients.

The ZCMC is in the process of preparing the schedule for minor operations.

Aside from the free operation, medicines will also be given for free, to include laboratory examination.

Sese said, these inmates were prioritized because they have limited access to health care as they are in jail.

This is in line with ZCMC's centennial celebration with the theme "Cien año de servicio con amor y cariño para na pueblo Zamboangueño." (RGAAGo)
