A depressed security guard was shot and killed by policemen after he allegedly grabbed the gun of another police officer along Tetuan Highway yesterday morning.

The fatality was identified as Jimmy Salacao, 67, married, a security guard of Red Force Security Agency assigned at a hardware in Tetuan Highway and a native of Siocon, Zamboanga del Norte with present address in Cotabato City.

Salacao was already off duty at around 9 a.m. when SPO1 Samir Sabuero passed by the area while heading towards Camp Abendan in Mercedes.

When Sabuero slowed down on his motorcycle, Salacao allegedly approached the policeman and grabbed the cop’s 9mm pistol from his holster.

Salacao carried the gun back to the hardware and pointed the weapon towards another security guard.

The policeman followed the guard into the store and tried to convince him to lay down the gun but Salacao refused to do so.

At the time, policemen of the Special Action Force (SAF) also passed by and responded.

When policemen saw that Salacao was already uncontrollable, one of the SAF troopers shot him three times.

Salacao was taken to the hospital but he expired while under medication.

Salacao was reportedly depressed over reports about his wife’s alleged infidelity in Cotabato City.

Salacao is reportedly scheduled to go home on September 5.   (Dan Toribio)
