As a yearly tradition on her birthday, House Deputy Speaker for Mindanao Beng Climaco on Thursday (September 8) treated young offenders at the City Reformatory Center manifesting firm commitment to the advocacy on youth.

The jail visit was held a day after her birthday (September 7) as she was in the House of Representatives presiding over the plenary for the proposed 2012 budget.

The visit to the juvenile delinquents or young offenders at the City Reformatory Center has been the lady solon’s advocacy for 7 years now. The tradition started when she was still serving as the city’s Vice Mayor.

The congresswoman finds contentment in sharing her blessings to the young offenders by giving them foodstuff and other relief goods. She ate with the inmates and even found time to listen as well as to share stories of life and freedom.

She also donated two ceiling fans and chess boards to the inmates for comfort and recreation.

According to Climaco, her time with the young inmates has been one of the most awaited parts during her yearly celebration of her birth anniversary.

The congresswoman, who turned 45 years old last September 7, has been steadfast in her advocacy to promote the welfare of the youth and this is verbalized in her constant call “let us help make children’s future a reality today”.
