The distribution of NFA rice is not only limited to District 1 residents but is also available for District 2.

This was the statement of District 1 Representative Celso Lobregat amid apprehensions that only District 1 can benefit from the distribution of NFA rice.

"Actually, I have already talked to NFA regional director Genaro Nuñez to maximize the government subsidized rice distribution to all the 98 barangays of Zamboanga City until supply lasts, it is not contained only in my district," Lobregat said.

The solon said  in yesterday's scheduled " Tagpuan Day" in the barangays of San Roque and Pasonanca, hoards of crowd flocked to the designated venue of distribution just to avail of the rice distribution with a minimal cost of only P27 per kilo.

" I have seen the volume of people trying to avail of the 5 kilos per family allocation, in fact the 100 sacks per day disbursement of NFA rice is very lacking but at least it can serve the poorest of the poor by providing them rice at a very low cost," Lobregat said.

Congressman Celso Lobregat has ensured the orderliness in the distribution of the rice supply to indigent families in District 1 in response to the rice shortage being experienced at present by the Zamboangueños.

Earlier this week, personnel from the National Food Authority (NFA) together with Congressman Lobregat in coordination with the barangay officials of the chosen location for the rice distribution trooped to the barangays of Maasin, Talisayan, Ayala and Recodo in order to distribute the low cost but high grained rice supplies from NFA.

NFA is selling rice for about Php27 per kilo wherein 100 sacks are being sold per barangay. Each family is sold the maximum of 5 kilos wherein in each identified barangay, some 1,000 families are being benefited with this low cost but quality rice from the government. (Dexter Yap)
