Thousands of Zamboanga residents have benefited from the Department of Agriculture (DA) TienDA which started last Saturday in Corcuera Street this city.

Ferdinand Gamorot said that 14 exhibitors were present in the area selling rice, fruits, and vegetables from producers at a cheaper price.

Producers from Region 10 brought with them organic rice and vegetables such as carrots and potatoes while those from Region 13 brought organic rice.

The office is selling the commercial rice which comes from the DA's techno demo farm at only P32 per kilo while for the NFA P27 per kilo.

He said, those who patronized the DA store came from the city's different barangays. The store is open to the public from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

This was done by DA to help address the increasing price of rice being experienced by the city.

"This is one way of making sure that the public has access to rice," Gamorot said.

He added that with the support of the public, they will see if this can be done on a regular basis. (R.G. A A. Go)
