Around a hundred people celebrated the Eidil Adha Solidarity Dinner held at the Sapphire Hall of the Grand Astoria Hotel last August 22.

The guests came from various sectors of society such as the religious, security, youth, indigenous people and other civic organizations.

Dr. Grace J. Rebollos, Peace Advocates Zamboanga vice president, underscored the importance of the celebration which binds the Christians and the Muslims.

“Tonight we celebrate the commonality between us (Christian) and you (Muslim) and to allow us to appreciate the people of the past who gave us the symbol today,” Rebollos said.

The interfaith celebration was made possible through the efforts of Peace Advocates Zamboanga (PAZ) and the Interreligious Solidarity for Peace (ISP) in partnership with the Ulama Council for Zamboanga Peninsula (UCZP) and the Technical Working Group on Countering Violent Extremism and Terrorism (TWG-CVET).

The Eidil Adha is a celebration marking the culmination of the annual pilgrimage to Mecca and commemorating the sacrifice of the Prophet Abraham.  (PR)
