A blast fisherman lost his right hand after a homemade bomb prematurely exploded in his possession off Sitio Bilang-Bilang, Mulu-Muluan, Mercedes last Saturday morning.

Benhar Tating y Andiring, 25, was fishing using an homemade explosive around 7:30 a.m. when the incident took place.

Police said that Tating was detonating the explosive when it exploded in in his hands.

Tating’s right hand was amputated. He also sustained several burns in the body.

Policemen iof Sacol Island who were conducting seaborne patrol saw the incident and assisted Tating.

Tating was rushed to the hospital for treatment and was placed under arrest for illegal fishing. — Dan Toribio Jr.
