District II Congressman Mannix Dalipe was appointed as vice chairman of the powerful Committee on Public Works and Highways in the House of Representatives on Monday.

Dalipe will lead in the public works and highways committee together with its newly-appointed Chairman Marikina Congressman Bayani Fernando.

The important committee has more than 95 members in the Lower House.

“I am equally humbled and elated after the House leadership decided to offer me the vice chairmanship of the public works and highways committee. This is a big challenge for me but I vow to perform my utmost best to serve the interest of the Filipino people in general, and the Zamboaguenos in particular,” Dalipe told Zamboanga Today in a phone interview from Manila.

According to Dalipe, by sitting as vice chairman of the public works and highways committee, he will certainly have the time to closely monitor the allocation and eventual implementation of the different and various infrastructure projects of the national government in Zamboanga Peninsula particularly in Zamboanga City.

Dalipe furthered that he will also have much time and opportunity to closely monitor the nationally-funded projects intended for Zamboanga City such as the multi-million divertionary road and coastal road projects, superhighway in east coast, bridges school buildings, irrigation, among others.
