Sr. Supt. Thomas Joseph I. Martir formally assumed as Officer-in-Charge of the Zamboanga City Police Office (ZCPO), replacing outgoing Chief, Sr. Supt Alan Nazarro during a turnover ceremony at the City Hall Conference Room yesterday.

Martir’s assumption was pursuant to General Order 2018-2336 dated September 3, 2018 designating Martir as the new ZCPO Chief.

Chief Supt. Edwin de Ocampo, Deputy Assistant Regional Director for Administration, presided over the ceremony while City Mayor Maria Isabelle Climaco- Salazar witnessed the change of command.

In a short statement, Martir vowed to continue the ongoing campaign against illegal drugs and warned drug offenders against continuing the illegal activity.

He also ordered police personnel to be aggressive in the fight against criminality.

Martir’s assumption as ZCPO-OIC followed a series of shooting incidents in the city during recent weeks.

Earlier this week, at least four persons were killed during three gun attacks in three barangays.  (Ely Dumaboc)
