Wanted man resists arrest; slain in police shootout PDF Print E-mail

A suspected member of an Urban Terrorist Group, who is also a wanted for robbery and homicide, was killed during a police operation in Stairway, Sumagdang, Isabela City on Thursday night.

The fatality was identified as Omaidie Salain. He died on the spot due to fatal gunshot wounds in the different parts of the body.

Sr. Gilzen Niño Manese, chief of Isabela City Police Station, told newsmen that policemen were about to serve a warrant of arrest to Salain, but he resisted.

When the cops arrived at Salain’s house, he fired at them that also prompted the lawmen to return fire.

The report said that Salain was wanted for the crime of robbery with homicide. His arrest warrant was issued by the Regional Trial Court (RTC) here inZamboanga City.

Salain was also included in the list of the most wanted persons in Zamboanga City.

Reports further added that Salain used to come and go in Zamboanga City sometimes in 2011, and after committing crimes he would flee to Basilan to hide.

Police recovered a .45 caliber pistol with bullets and also six sachets of shabu from the house of the slain suspect. – Dan Toribio
