OWWA-IX conducts entrepreneurship training Print

The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration Regional Welfare Office IX conducted a three (3) day Entrepreneurship Development Training at Piñan, Zamboanga del Norte last August 29-31, 2018.

The training was held in collaboration with the Department of Trade and Industry and (DTI) represented by Mr. Rodrigo Montero and Land Bank of the Philippines (LBP) represented by Mr. RoelTarroza. It was participated by 100 active OFWs coming from the Municipality of Piñan, Mutia, and Dipolog City and was facilitated by Family Welfare Officer Lellan C. Pacatang and Labor Communications Officer Fatima Jane G. Salihuddin.

OWWA Regional Director Dr. Hassan Gabra T. Jumdain gave his welcome remarks on the first day of the training and also opened the floor for important matters/concerns of the participants so that these may be addressed promptly. They were asked to take part in the workshops and activities such as coming up with their personal financial plan.

Mr. Montero lectured on the basics of starting an enterprise covering topics such as trending business ventures and the right attitude to cultivate when running a business. He also lectured on Entrepreneurship Development Training wherein he provided the participants with the ability to recognize commercial opportunities, self-esteem, knowledge and skills to act on them. Mr. Tarroza on the other hand, oriented on the P2 billion Reintegration Program and participants asked relevant questions in an open forum.

Lastly, FWO Pacatang organized the group into OFW Family Circles (OFCs). The aims of the said formation are to strengthen and counsel OFWs and make them a helping arm in the information dissemination of OWWA programs and services.

It is not easy to be a successful entrepreneur and the only way to be one is being equipped with all the right entrepreneurial skills, attitude and behavior. Hence, OWWA IX, made this training available for OFWS who wanted to become an entrepreneur so that they may develop their entrepreneurial skills, and in the process, establish or run successful enterprises.
